Welcome to the Marine Electromagnetic Laboratory at Scripps

The Marine EM laboratory at Scripps Institution of Oceanography pioneers new technologies for exploring the crust and mantle underneath the oceans using marine electromagnetism. Key research areas include marine controlled-source electromagnetic sounding (CSEM, also known as sea-bed logging or SBL) and the marine magnetotelluric method (MT).

The navigation menu on the left-hand side is specific to the section of the website you are currently viewing. The Research tab contains pages documenting current and past projects. Under the Resources tab you can find Presentations, Software, and Background information on marine electromagnetic methods. The Instruments tab has information on our seafloor electromagnetic receivers, EM transmitters andinduction coil magnetometers.
