Marine EM Reference Database

Updated August 18, 2011: now up to 369 papers!

The reference database below is intended to document the peer-reviewed published papers that cover any aspect of marine electromagnetic induction for mapping seafloor electrical conductivity. The database also includes student PhD and Masters theses, technical reports, and a few non-peer reviewed publications that represent seminal advances in marine EM. I started this database as part of a review paper that was presented at the 20th EM Induction Workshop, held in Giza Egypt during September 2010. The review paper is now available online:

Key, K., (2011), Marine Electromagnetic Studies of Seafloor Resources and Tectonics, Surveys in Geophysics, http://www.springerlink.com/content/y7258505p4610420/

The database is almost certainly incomplete; my apologies if your own work has been omitted. It is my intention to continually update the database, so if you find missing works or mistakes, drop me a line and I'll update the database asap.

Download the database:

Reference database in Bibtex Format: ReferenceList.bib

Reference database as formatted PDFs: sorted by year, sorted by name

*Mac OS X users: you can view the Bibtex file using the free Bibdesk software. However, if you are willing to pay, Papers is the best thing since sliced bread.

*Many of the PhD and Masters theses in the database can be downloaded here.

Check out the publication rate shown in the plots below. There are three distinct linear trends in the publication rate: 1950s-1980, 1981-2003, and then the industrial age of marine EM begins. Notice how these linear trends approximate an exponentially increasing trend. Anyone want to bet on 800 papers by 2020?
