In 2000, Statoil commisioned the SIO Marine EM Laboratory, Southampton Oceanography Centre and AOA Geophysics to collect the first controlled-source EM data set for offshore petroleum exploration. The SIO Marine EM Laboratory provided reliable EM receivers and Southampton Oceanography Centre supplied their EM transmitter DASI for a test of the CSEM method on a known oil field offshore Angola.
